Interweb fun
Boy band + lab equipment = love! <3
From my friend and fellow ex-lab geek Julie, an ad for Eppendorf:
Ahhh. My favourite part of the lyrics is:
DNA
RNA
Proteins
Cell Cultures
Less reagents
Faster workflow
Saves you money
Well, well, well
Ask any pipetting lab dork and they’ll chuckle at the “well, well, well”. I used to get pipettor’s thumb and I can’t say that I miss that sort [...]
Virtual window shopping
I would have said Windows® shopping, but our PC has decided not to connect to the internet so we’re almost exclusively Mac-surfing now.
I’ve been wanting to do a little shopping, but it seems whenever we have the free time to go shopping, it’s usually past closing time at the mall. Instead, it’s virtual shopping for [...]
Thoroughly enjoying
I have a thing for musicals. And Nathan Fillion. And Joss Whedon projects. And now Neil Patrick Harris.
If you haven’t yet seen the interweb sensation that is Dr. Horrible, go now before the 20th.
“Let me in”
Awesome little animated short directed by Simon Tofield. Make sure you check out the other short too: Cat Man Do. (Found via our friend Julia — hi!)
Be a fan of Blend Creations on Facebook
We’ve recently created a Facebook page and we’re looking for fans! (If you don’t have a Facebook account, it’s really easy to get one here.) We’d like to get as many fans as possible so we’re having a little contest:
“One fan = One dollar in merchandise” giveaway
We’re going to give away up to $1500 in [...]
These boots were made for walkin’
Doc Martens is having a fun little design contest (that happens to be some very clever marketing, btw) where you can design your own set of boots. You can design either the 8-hole or the 14-hole boot and they’ll be picking two winners. One will be decided by the popular vote, and [...]
7 random things
A long, long, LONG time ago, Lilie from A Planet 4 Creation tagged me to share 7 random and/or weird things about myself. It’s hard to come up with ‘weird’ things if well, they seem normal to you… but here they are:
1. I was well into my 20s before I realized that I [...]
It’s funny because it’s true
While I am an industrial designer and dabble in graphic design and other such creative endevours, long before that I used to be a big lab geek (in applied biochemistry — it’s a weird mix of backgrounds, I agree).
I found Ph.D. comics through a friend of mine (hi Shona!) who’s a grad student. This one [...]
Alphabet soup
I bookmarked this video a while back (found originally via drawn.ca).
I have a love for beautiful scripty fonts and I love how effortlessly the elder Wouters seems to write his letters. Of course, the younger Wouters’ lettering is oozing with charm and appeal :)
Itching for some home improvement
It is with fond farewell that I bid adieu to the 7 FOOT HIGH snow banks that lived in our little courtyard for so long. There is no longer any trace of snow around any piece of property that’s ‘ours’.
Of course, in its place are neglected patches of (crab) grass and we’re itching [...]
